Who Created The Ancient Matrix?

The following is an excerpt from my upcoming book Remember, from a chapter titled “Psychedelia”. This chapter dives deep into the psychedelic experience, the inner workings, mysteries and foundational practices of plant medicine ceremonies, and the physical biological effects that occur when people are under the influence of various psychedelics. It reveals that humans have been locked in an Ancient Matrix of sorts, held in place by beings who serve an invisible force many call The Mind Virus, or Wetiko. It is an aspect of Archontic consciousness, a state of consciousness that is very distorted and separated from source, or God / Spirit. This Mind Virus infiltrates the psyche of human beings and distorts their perception, keeping them locked in negative feedback loops of confusion, anger, distress and consumption. It is extractive in nature, and seeks to get something out of everyone and everything it interacts with. It takes, and takes, and takes, and consumes in an unnatural way. It drives intense cravings, addictions and severe states of separation consciousness within human beings.

The primary drive of this Mind Virus is to feed off the life force energy of living beings, while keeping them in a distorted, illusory perception of reality and therefore keeping them disconnected from their souls, from Spirit and from the natural world.

Through psychedelic research, we have discovered that the Default Mode Network of the brain (or DMN) is switched off during various psychedelic experiences. What is the Default Mode Network, you may be wondering, and why is it such a key discovery that this aspect of our mind is switched off during psychedelic experiences and expanded states of awareness?

The parts of the brain that make up the DMN are the posterior cingulate cortex, precuneus, medial prefrontal cortex and the inferior parietal cortices, all of which are less active during goal oriented activity and more active when we are in a resting or non-focused mental state. The DMN is composed of the parts of our psyche that represent the ego, our individual sense of self, and who we are in relation to others, to the past and to the future. It represents the ruminating mind, the part of our mind that loves to replay memories and tune into the highlight reel of what has come to pass, and part of its function is to construct mentally simulated realities within our minds.

The DMN keeps us tuned into consensus reality and inhibits exploration of other potential realities, keeping us locked into routine, normalcy, sameness and “business as usual” highlight reels. It is a Matrix of Mind - a mental construct that locks us deeper into material reality, cutting off access to spirituality and other dimensions of existence, keeping us looping through an autobiographical story and focused on ourselves, what happened in the past or what might happen in the future. An overactive DMN has been correlated with mental disorders like OCD, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, eating disorders, addictive tendencies, and drug cravings and withdrawals.

Recent research on psychedelic mushrooms (psilocybin) has revealed that these potent mushrooms render the DMN offline temporarily, which could allude to how mushrooms are able to bring so much psychological and physical healing to humans. Psychedelics of all kinds awaken us from the dream of consensus reality, which could be one of the reasons these plants have been demonized, ostracized and banned from society. At times it has almost seemed like we have been intentionally kept within this lower, diminished, limited state of consciousness, cycling through illusion after illusion, fighting with ourselves and never really getting anywhere.

But why has human consciousness been so isolated within these limiting realms of the mind?

What if the Default Mode Network was a daily mental state that is designed to keep us distracted and limited, while our energy is secretly harvested behind the scenes?

Who is harvesting our energy, and why?

The answers to this ancient mystery may surprise you, and key insights into this worldwide dilemma have been seeded within the wisdom of ancient mystery schools, indigenous lineages, mythologies and religions, seemingly hidden for centuries. This wisdom is returning to us all at this time, as we are remembering who we are and what we are truly capable of.

Now, lets dive into this very important question that is digging at our awareness…

“The Seeker” by Angelique Benicio

Who Created The Ancient Matrix?

Evil hiding among us is an ancient theme.” - John Carpenter

How did we get here?

How have we been convinced to believe a false reality, convinced of our own disempowerment and inability to change things, programmed to view life through a very distorted miniscule lens, and kept disconnected from our divinity and true nature for so long?

If humans have been intentionally misled, weakened and isolated into diminished states of consciousness, then who, or what, is doing the misleading? Who, or what, has purposely trapped human consciousness within the Default Mode Network of the brain and stifled our natural evolution?

What if there is an ancient etheric force, mythological creatures of sorts, that have been influencing humanity negatively and siphoning psychic energy from behind the scenes for millennia?

Ancient civilizations, indigenous tribes and mythologies from across the globe speak on the same theme or idea that reflects this difficult truth… that there are otherworldly beings - or spirits, or aliens - that have a nefarious agenda which they have been placing upon humanity for a long, long time. They all speak about serpent lords, Gods (often “from the stars” or another plane of existence), fallen angels, or interdimensional beings who are often Reptilian or Serpent-like in nature. All these mythologies say these beings have access to a plethora of advanced technology and gadgets, and that they manipulate and control the human population on Earth from behind the scenes, or behind dimensional barriers. Whether they are called The Nephilim in the bible, Wetiko in Native American traditions, the Predators or Flyers in many South American / Amazonian Shamanic traditions, Antimimos by Carl Jung (a famous Swiss psychologist), or The Archons in gnostic teachings… it seems as if this mind virus has been around for a long time, and it thrives in our ignorance to its existence. I talk a lot about the concept of The Archons in Part 3 of my book.

This nefarious force from another dimension is described as a virus or parasite that infects and spreads throughout the psyche and mental processes of a human being. They are demonic entities who suppress human consciousness and our ability to experience realities outside the material realm. These beings build matrix constructs within the minds of humans in order to harvest their psychic energy like a parasite. They infiltrate the already traumatized and compromised minds of humans who are disconnected from spirit, and upload their own programming, thought forms and perceptions that perpetrate their influential agendas over humanity.

Viruses inject their programming and DNA into a host in sneaky ways that get the host to replicate more of the virus. But the way we break out of this collective spell is through our heart center. Our heart never lies, and is always directing us towards our highest good and towards reconnection with our soul. The mind virus seeks to keep consciousness isolated in the mind, so we only run things through our logical, programmed perspective and not through our heart-based intuitive feeling centers. So by opening our hearts, focusing our attention within, stepping into the observer role and really becoming aware of what we are putting our energy into and why, we start to disentangle from the Wetiko / Archontic mind virus and begin to open our cosmic perception.

I would like to share some quotes from the book “Human Race Get Off Your Knees” by David Icke that relate to the above information. Take what resonates, leave what does not.

This illusion only continues until someone comes along and changes the belief, the program - the collective reality. Then such ‘laws’ cease to apply. What we call ‘miracles’ are just the overcoming of a programmed mind, breaking out of its sense of limitation and creating or experiencing a different reality. Those still in the program think this is impossible, which, to their state of awareness, it certainly appears to be… nothing is impossible, but a belief in limitation makes it seem so. It has been shown again and again that the beliefs of the scientists performing an experiment will affect the outcome of the experiment. The nearest thing there is to a ‘law’ is this: what you believe you will perceive
— "Human Race Get Off Your Knees" By David Icke, page 326

And another quote that builds off the previous page -

If I don’t identify with being a ‘Taurus’ or an ‘Aries’ or ‘David Icke’, I begin to release myself from such influences and limitations. I am not David Icke, I am Infinite Consciousness having an experience called David Icke
— "Human Race Get Off Your Knees" By David Icke, page 327

When we shift our identity out of our minds and into presence, we start to realize there is so much more to life than the reality we have fed on tv and in school. When we are overly identified with the roles that have been placed upon us by society, we isolate our consciousness further into the Default Mode Network and operate mostly from the limited perception of the ego. But we are so much more than this. Every spiritual teacher alludes to this truth at some point. “I am Infinite Consciousness having an experience called David Icke,” and the amazing Ram Dass always said… “I am loving awareness in drag.

We are transforming this planet, from the inside out, from a prison into a paradise.

We are finally waking up out of the work / eat / sleep repeat cycle, and finally asking important questions that need to be asked at this time. Who are you, really? What does it mean to be human? What really matters to you and to the whole of humanity, in the grand scheme of things? We are zooming out and looking at the bigger picture, reclaiming our cosmic consciousness and sacred connection to one another, and realizing there is so much more to life than this mundane, robotic, technocratic Matrix mainstream lifestyle. There is so much more to this human experience than what job you have, how good your grades are, how many material items you have or how many beers you can drink at a gathering. There is so much more to life than television, video games, doom scrolling, social ranking, mindless phone games, social media followings and sensational foods. These things have been propped up as important ideals to strive for, to keep our egos distracted by hierarchy, survival needs and accumulation in the material world. We are realizing these things don’t really matter as much as we previously emphasized, and that we have been misled to think distractions and lifeless activities are more important than they truly are.

This is not to say that any of these things are not important at all. Sensational foods, sharing our lives online, partaking in activities that bring us joy and doing good work in this world are vital parts of the human experience. These things can bring us temporary fulfillment and joy, but they often are used to fill a void within, never truly satisfying us and keeping us reaching outside ourselves for more, more, more. When we live from the outside in, constantly reaching for external means to complete us within, we are operating in a fragmented version of what reality could be, never seeing the bigger picture and never becoming truly whole. When we shift and begin living from the inside out, it is because we have finally turned within and helped ourselves feel more and complete within before reaching for something external to interact with. When fill up our cup first, by bringing true fulfillment and presence within, anything we take from outside will add to it and bring our cup to overflowing.

This Mind Virus parasite thrives on humans believing that they are inherently flawed and not already whole and complete, which are very common beliefs in our world at this time, especially in American culture. The entire beauty industry’s marketing is based on this idea - that you are inherently unworthy, incomplete, not naturally pretty, and that you need something outside of you in order to make you worthy, whole, complete, and beautiful. Fast fashion brands like Shein, Temu, Forever 21 and others thrive off this - quite literally needing humans who believe they are not inherently enough, unworthy and lacking - so they keep buying new things and investing into new trends. If you are already whole and complete, content within yourself, you don’t need as much from the external. Heck, the more at peace you become within, the more you don’t NEED anything. Everything you receive is just an extra, a treat… not a need.

We become so programmed with this neediness for things outside of us, and this is exactly what materialism and consumerism wants. So many young people move through life hungry for shiny things, acceptance, love, praise and attention, and are incredibly insecure and judgemental… all of which breeds a void within the psyche. If you think you are not enough or do not feel accepted by your peers, you are way more likely to buy something that they all have, no matter the price, just to feel “enough-ness” and like you belong… even if you don’t like the item, or cannot afford it.

One way I’ve seen this playing out through myself and my younger sisters was during Middle School. My younger sisters always wanted name brand things, like north face backpacks, champion sweatsuits, or whatever trending jordan sneakers are cool on any given day… just because it’s what was deemed valuable and important. They do value nice things and like to treat themselves, but I have noticed how there is a shadow element to it all. I always saw how there was this underlying need for these material items in order to feel safe, secure and accepted in their social circles, yet when they got the items they wanted, the clothes were neglected and soon forgotten about as the next trend came into their awareness. $100 sweatsuits, $200 boots, $50 leggings and $20 pair of socks all would be left on the ground, stepped all over, forgotten at friends houses, shoved in the back of the closet and neglected, all for the purpose of fitting in and seeking to fill that void of “not enoughness” inside. This was not ALWAYS the case, but is something I’ve noticed.

My mother would work overtime, get extra jobs, and scrape pennies together just to please my sisters and make them happy… then she would scream, cry and complain about how ungrateful they were when something happened to the over priced item they had to have last week, that she fought for and worked extra hard to get for them. And the cycle continued. Eventually my sisters grew up and got jobs, and now they do the same thing with their own money, and my mother joined them. Every time I see my mother, she has a new Amazon or Temu or some random online store’s package full of new fast fashion trends that she doesn’t actually like or ever wear, she just saw the picture online and clicked buy. One of my sisters is always buying cheap things on these sites that break the next day or sit in a drawer, and the other is spending $100s on name brand shoes and sweatshirts that wind up being fake.

It really feels like we are almost preyed upon for this weakness of our psyche and the inner void we are all trying to fill. How many of us know people who succumb to this material greed, this excess in consumption and reaching for more, more, MORE hoping to fill a never ending void within. They always say “money doesn’t buy you happiness” because of this concept… because we have convinced ourselves that material things equal happiness, and that just buying more things will lead us to the happiness and inner fulfillment we seek. This is the delusion many of us are caught in around the world, and especially in America. So many of us know that the clothes from these fast fashion brands are made in child and forced labor camps and factories, yet we turn a blind eye and buy it anyway. Why?

In the 7th grade, I moved to a very rich town, where all the girls wore name brands like Abercrombie, Hollister, Vineyard Vines, North Face, Ugg and more. They all had Longchamp bags as their backpacks that they bought from Nordstroms at the mall for hundreds of dollars. They all had hair straighteners, wore designer belts and had spent weekdays shopping at Sephora, going out to eat at Cheesecake Factory and texting on their brand new cell phones (with unlimited texting and picture mail). It was very much modeled that if you did not have all these things, you were nothing. You were not cool enough, not worthy of attention, affection or acceptance, and not good enough to be invited over anyone’s house. And you knew if you did not fit in, it tormented you every single day. It attracted bullying, shameful comments, and more isolation. It completely wreaked havoc on the psyche of a still developing mind that is just starting to go through puberty, and overloading the nervous system and emotional body with dark feelings and thoughts that will not go away and are just getting worse. This is the life for many teenagers, including me.

The psychological distress that I felt trying to fit in, keep up with the trends and gain acceptance absolutely destroyed my entire being, mind, body and soul. It completely disconnected me from my soul, my true nature and what I really liked. I became possessed by this not enoughness, this need for validation and desire to be liked by my peers, which contributed to suicidal ideations I began feeling in 8th grade. I was extremely depressed because my family could not afford to just throw money away at clothes that weren’t going to matter tomorrow and fancy dinners that felt uncomfortable in the first place. We could barely afford to eat in those days, primarily due to the financial crisis of 2008 and beyond. There were many times I had to pay for school lunch with pennies and dimes I found.

But I did not understand this as a young child, mainly because nobody in my family really explained what was going on in those days until I was much older. I thought it was all happening because there was something wrong with me, that I was unworthy and a burden… all limiting beliefs that were being strengthened and compounded even more at school. And I know so many teenagers who have dealt with the same issues. I realize now that a big reason why I struggled so much was because I wanted to be popular, to fit in and be accepted more than anything. Actually, I wanted to be loved most of all, because I felt so lacking in love in my home and family life. I felt so, so confused, ashamed and hurt when I was trying to do what everyone else was doing. Navigating the temptation, pushiness, pressure and programming that creates mainstream society is intense for a sensitive young person.

Middle School is a difficult age for developing humans, and is compared to “hell on Earth” for many I think. Our hormones and brains are developing like crazy, substances like alcohol and weed are being introduced to us, we’re starting to be sexually active and get into relationships. We are very easily influenced at this age… and if you notice, especially in present day 2025, kids in this age group almost always have a Starbucks drink and cell phone in their hands. They spend all their parent’s money on mindless consumption that is flashed before their eyes on the screens in their hand all day. Their lives are built around consumption and just getting through the day. They buy into new trends and beg their parents for things they’ll never use on Tik Tok shop. They are SO incredibly anxious and socially awkward, with almost no people skills. They spend their free time perfecting the latest Tik Tok dances, trying new snapchat filters and reposting popular trends. All of their lives are online, and have been since Zoom School in 2020. So many of them are so ravenous for the next thing they move through life consuming, taking, judging, never learning how to create or really be a biological, human being. Never learning how to honor the value in things, or see the inherent value in anything. Never learning to give before they receive, or any true moral principles that empower them as human beings, all in my opinion, not facts.

Where is the humanness in this? Where is the raw, authentic, ecstatic and energetic human being that existed 100 years ago? What is happening?

This is not to say all kids are like this. However, I worked in a Middle School cafeteria for the entire 2023-24 school year, and I witnessed most of this first hand. Many of the girls were very mean and materialistic. Many of the boys were ignorant and excruciatingly judgmental. And just like when I was younger, the only people who were actually polite, respectful, funny and humane were the “nerds” or those who didn’t fit in. The girls dressed half naked and it was almost like the exact same outfit was copy and pasted onto all the popular girls. The girls and boys all played sports, never having any free time to actually find themselves or discover who they are and what they like. And when they did have freetime, they were vaping, trying substances, hooking up with each other, going to high school parties… all the “normal” things that we are encouraged to do if we want to be cool in school.

But zoom out, take a look at what this lifestyle does to us long term… it confuses us, and disconnects us from our true wants and needs, because everything we do is focused on mimicry, trying to be more like the cool kids, never actually finding true personal fulfillment, value or purpose.

It instills a lifestyle and mainstream status quo that drives us deeper into materialism and further disconnects us from our soul or divine essence. And many of us never stop to actually question things… we just keep bulldozing through life, often driven by this deep existential anxiety and outside-in, void filling lifestyle…

I feel like this is a major way this Mind Virus is instilled within us… through the fear we experience navigating our current society and the pressure we feel to conform to it.

We are disconnected from our true nature, our spiritual essence and personal power, and those negative beliefs of inherent unworthiness and not enough-ness are programmed into us everywhere we focus our attention. It’s normalized… and this is a big problem in our society, normalizing behaviors that are actually not normal at all. This is what happens when we adopt a mainstream lifestyle, and follow the crowd wherever they go. The more you step back and objectively view things, the more clear it becomes that we are being guided off a cliff, and encouraged to follow our peers off it, even if that results in death.

When we remove the pressure society places on us, and really ask ourselves “who am i? What am I doing here? What do I really like and really want to do right now”... we start to come back into our personal power and clear out this programming that has been instilled within us for generations, steering us down the wrong path. This is not meant to scare, judge or create separation from anyone or any lifestyle… my main intention here is to just share some ideas and observations about mainstream life, the negative effects it has on our humanness, and where this is all leading us.

I would like to share a quote from the 1999 movie The Matrix, a conversation between the characters Morpheus and Neo that serves as a perfect metaphor for our world and it’s current dilemma of consciousness.

Morpheus: I imagine that right now, you’re feeling a bit like Alice. Tumbling down the rabbit hole? Hmm?
Neo: You could say that.
Morpheus: I see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he is expecting to wake up. Ironically, that’s not far from the truth. Do you believe in fate, Neo?
Neo: No.
Morpheus: Why not?
Neo: Because I don’t like the idea that I’m not in control of my life.
Morpheus: I know *exactly* what you mean. Let me tell you why you’re here. You’re here because you know something. What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I’m talking about?
Neo: The Matrix.
Morpheus: Do you want to know what it is?
Neo: Yes.
Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work... when you go to church... when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind.
— The Matrix Movie, 1999

We are waking up from the collective dream, the illusion that has been pulled over our consciousness for generations, and reclaiming our true place here on planet Earth. Psychedelics are playing a vital role in this disillusionment process, connecting us with spiritual dimensions, expanded consciousness and the limitless possibilities that are available to us when we reclaim our power and influence over our own lives. The psychedelic renaissance that is currently underway is revealing our collective need to figure out this mess we have gotten ourselves into, while reminding us of our interconnected nature and sacred connection we all hold with the worlds of nature and spirit. We are awakening to the true nature of our human reality, and as we do this our perception is widening once again.

As William Blake says, “If the doors of perception were open, we would see things as they really are - infinite.”

I would like to end this chapter with a quote from the creator of the Gaia show Psychedelia.

If the archons of the gnostic gospels are truly harvesting human energy, using the default mode network to keep us blaming the simulation, could this unique class of the plant kingdom be here to serve as the key to escape this matrix before it’s too late?

Thank you for reading this excerpt from my upcoming book Remember.

As always, take what resonates and leave what does not, and feel free to join the conversation by sharing this article and discussing it’s ideas with friends. And, feel free to reach out to me with any questions, comments or reflections about these topics. The more we open ourselves up to new ideas, conversations and ways of viewing the world, the more we can shift into an empowered, co-creating collective of humans who is self aware and connected to the Spirit of all things.

The more we know, the less we fear.

I wish you well on your journey, and hope this adds value to your human experience.

Much Love & Namaste,
