What is “channeling”?

An ancient, mystical and some times frightening art form… channeling is a gift that has unfolded naturally and through spiritual activations within human consciousness throughout recorded history. It is a gift, and practice, that has been coming online gradually as human consciousness rises in frequency, and it is being accessed by more and more people on Earth at this time of expansion, remembering and ascending consciousness. Channeling is a gift that has always been there, lying dormant within, waiting to be accessed or “switched on” in divine timing. It is available to all of us, but runs stronger in certain soul types and circumstances.

Energy is contagious — frequencies, energy waves, “vibes” and felt experiences of etheric vibrations, are moving at various speeds and rhythms, traveling through the ether and bouncing around from vessel to vessel — these subtle energies are becoming more noticed, felt and experienced in people who are becoming clearer in their psyche, anchored in the embodiment of their soul frequency and transparent in their interactions with others. Many people going through a spiritual awakening report having “downloads” frequently, where entire concepts, ideas and pieces of information become downloaded into their awareness, seemingly out of nowhere. These are the beginning forms of channeling and subtle ways this gift is switched on within our psyche.

Channeling is available to all of us, no matter our background, energy type or walk of life, but it is stronger in some people than others. As our channels naturally become purified, and our awareness gradually reaches for the stars and becomes refined, life starts to become more quantum, relative, “woowoo”, and to be honest, quite strange.

Is Channeling “The Work of the Devil”?

Or is being human way more weird and “woowoo” than we thought?

In the past, these spiritual gifts were labeled “sorcery”, “witchcraft” and marked as the workings of the Devil. These gifts were greatly misunderstood, denied, repressed, feared and shamed, leading to mass witch hunts, massacres (hangings, drownings, torturings) and innocent women being stoned to death, crushed and horrifically slaughtered, all for using natural remedies to heal, accessing their innate wisdom and putting it into practice.

The term “Witch” once meant a woman who was in touch with her wisdom…

The Witch used to be much more than a Halloween costume or a story character… To be a Witch was to be a woman who was that WHICH is needed in any space… an open channel, an oracle for the divine to flow through in the form of wisdom, healing, and the right spoken words being said in the right moment. The Witch was the wise one, the one with loving understanding, compassion for all beings, and a strong connection with the natural world and it’s medicines. These were women (and men, although it was largely women in the past) who knew of the healing qualities of herbs, tinctures, and naturally occurring extracts that Planet Earth has provided for us humans to commune with. This nature connection and work with natural healing remedies is what threatened the Catholic Church the most, the one true adversary of the Witch in past days and present.

“She’s a witch”, “burn the witch” and “that’s witchy shit” still holds a charge within my being that feels greatly misunderstood, denied and burdened with the ignorance of others. This is the nature of the “witch wound,” the work of the inner (and outer) witch hunter seeking to stifle that which cannot be explained logically, seeking to cut off our natural connection with Spirit and nature, so as to remain within the bounds of “safety” and under the direct control of the Church.

But we are boundless in our nature — and the Witch, the true Wise One, Man or Woman, she knows this… she remembers this and holds this memory at the forefront of all actions and interactions. She never forgets that That Which Creates Worlds created her AND her enemies, too… and it is the Spirit that connects all things, intertwines all energies, archetypes and focal points into one big cosmic soup, that guides her in her interactions, reminding her to never forget that the being before her eyes is One with Her, a part of her, and really no different from her… just another facet of the same Spirit, in a form other than her own.

Channeling is the accessing, opening and communing with something greater than your Small Self, the Limited Self in Human Form, through the channels of speaking, thinking and writing, and through the substance and potency of words and language. Our channel opens when the higher realms look down on our lower self in pure truth and love, when the Spirit reaches out to the Human, when the Self that is incarnated within the bounds of Humanity (yet still boundless at it’s core) remembers it is limitless and unbound by the limitations of the reasoning mind, and the ego.

Channeling seems mystical, but it is really not - it has just been systematically repressed, demonized and labeled incorrectly throughout the past few centuries. Those who are deemed “mentally ill” and who are “hearing voices” are accessing this channeling ability, but are often tuning into rather distorted or negative channels, or are overwhelmed by the high frequency energy they are receiving and downloading into their being.

As we enter this new age of the human experience, what was once shut down and misunderstood will begin to be acknowledged more as we see the true capabilities and benefits that come with expanded, purified and opened human awareness. This article is a testament to this ongoing shift currently underway, and it is my intention here to share what I have learned so far about channeling through my own experiences, dedicated research over the last 6 years, and the opening of my own channel that has been occurring throughout my 28 years of life on this beautiful, mysterious world we call Earth.

I invite you to take what resonates, and leave what does not, as you enter into this great unknown and mysterious concept known as “channeling.” Proceed with an open mind, and feel free to leave any preconceived notions or ideas about what channeling is at the door. Even if you receive nothing from this article, at least you dipped your toes into something you deemed strange, weird, scary, “witchy” or “woowoo”… and you lived to tell the tale.

Let’s dive in, to the vast world of channeling and inter-dimensional communication.

So What is ‘Channeling’?

Channeling is the higher expression of “downloads”, which are when we have a sudden sense of knowing or feel like we just downloaded information into our consciousness seemingly out of nowhere. These downloads often happen spontaneously and are triggered by something happening around you - an example would be if you’re watching a movie and a character says something that triggers an inner sense of knowing, aha moment or a ‘download’… maybe this character says “peanut butter” and you get a download about how peanut allergies are caused by our society becoming “too clean” or too sanitary. Or maybe you’re watching a documentary about Ancient Egypt, and something they say triggers a remembering of information about this time period that you should not remember, but do anyways. These downloads almost always come “out of nowhere” and are things you feel you are not making up with your conscious mind, but that you feel you inherently know or are “remembering” from within you… even if you don’t “know” where you know this information from or if you have ever studied it at all.

Channeling is the higher expression of these downloads, and represents the direct connection, communication and channel between yourself and a higher dimensional being, entity or energy. Channeling can unfold intentionally and purposefully, or it can unfold as we are talking to people, or when we are writing something. As I’m writing this I’m channeling in a way, connecting with subtle energies around me and with the Akashic field to transmit what wants to come through.

A common form of channeling that occurs when we are writing on paper is called “automatic writing” or auto writing, which is a pretty well known and common way that people begin channeling. This is how I began channeling myself back in 2019! I would be journaling about something I was watching a video on, and I would start to get downloads of information totally out of the blue but that was relevant to the video I was watching… then, when I would start to write down the downloads, more information would keep coming, flowing through me and onto the pages. I wasn’t “thinking” about what I was writing, just translating the words and phrases onto the pages as they would flow into my mind. I would keep going until the stream of information stopped, and would always be MIND BLOWN when I would go back and read what I had just written.

The primary qualities my soul is designed to express are related to channeling and communication, through what is called my “5th Energy Center”. Our energy centers depict the qualities of energy we are designed to express at soul level, which we learn when we study our Divine Soul Blueprint within the Akashic Records. There are 8 energy centers that every soul expresses to varying degrees… every soul is designed to express one (or 2) out of 8 divine qualities of energy dominantly, with the remaining energy centers expressed to more subtle degrees.

The 5th energy center holds the qualities of Divine Communication, and the main gifts of this energy center are channeling, communication, authentic self expression, teaching, writing and speaking. Words have substance for these souls, and their channels are naturally quite open. They often find themselves having entire conversations within their minds, planning out what they will say to others, and getting on little soapboxes when they are passionate about a topic. With my primary energy center being the 5th Energy Center, I see my gifts unfold primarily when I’m speaking with others or when I’m writing. I’ll even surprise myself sometimes with what I say, not consciously knowing what I am going to say before I say it. So, the more you can share your thoughts with the world through speaking and writing, the more you will experience the gift of channeling and receive more downloads of information. Becoming present and aware of that which moves through our mental space is a great place to start though. You’ll be surprised what flows through you when you are present and in a heightened, open state!

Protect your channel!

It’s important to learn protective practices for your channel, to keep it pure and under positive influence. There is not just 1 channel… there are many we can tune into, much like a radio dial.

The channel we connect with is determined by our frequency, intention and environment, so just be mindful of these factors when opening yourself up and set the intention to only connect with beings of light.

Channeling often unfolds “in the moment” and can pleasantly surprise the channeler at times because of the nature of the information coming through. Some people channel better typing on the computer, for some people it flows easier in conversation, or for some it flows through spoken words, much like trance channeling or opening the self to receive an intended transmission from higher forces.

Channelers have quite clear inner sight, and are often clairvoyant, highly visual and very active within their mind's eye and inner imagination. If this resonates, you may find that you have easy access to the imaginal realms… the astrals, the in-between realms and higher octaves of visualization have a potency for you, and visionary experiences like shamanic journeys, psychedelics or simple meditative journeys may be very powerful… these visual journeys may even be more intense and overwhelming if your energy is not fully grounded or clear, so you want to be intentional and careful about tuning into these visionary experiences and higher mental realms.

You do not have to be careful because it is dangerous… more so just be mindful of where, when and with whom you are accessing these realms, because you are VERY sensitive and will pick up on subtle energies more easily than other people. Our internal state and our intentions largely depict what experiences we will have within these imaginal realms, however we can set ourselves up for disaster if we do not take the time to understand the nature of the practices we are working with and how to navigate them with love. Meaning, you don’t want to throw yourself into these experiences just because you find it interesting… curiosity can often lead us down some negative roads unintentionally, so guard against this when connecting with these ancient practices.

Learn more about the practices you are jumping into, even if they seem basic and common… many people enter into psychedelic journeys because they seem fun, interesting or enlightening, without taking the time to protect their own energy or acknowledge their sensitivities. What is beneficial and easy for one soul can be traumatizing, overwhelming and reality-breaking for another. Just use discernment when opening yourself up and accessing these higher faculties of the mind & consciousness!

Resources to learn more about channeling & to see it in action.

There are many public channelers - some of them world famous, some of them doing their work more subtly online. You may have heard of some of them already - Bashar (channeled by Daryl Anka), Abraham Hicks (channeled by Esther Hicks), Barbara Marciniak and the Pleiadians, The Ra Collective and The Law of One texts, Lee Harris and the Z’s… and some other more “new age” channelers on YouTube like Hella Weston, Eluña, Jordan Younger and more. Many podcast shows feature a lot of channelers as well - The Next Level Soul podcast with Alex Ferrari, Emilio Ortiz’s show Just Tap In, The Know Thyself Podcast, and The Deja Blu Podcast have featured many different channelers and showcase the many forms that this gift unfolds within human beings.

I am going to link some resources below which I feel are helpful in this field. I also think it may be cool for you to see other people channel their guides and other beings, and for you to see what is possible for yourself if you feel called to activate these channeling gifts! I’m sure you’ve heard of channeling before and may have witnessed it in action, but in case you haven’t OR if you want to go deeper, I have a TON of resources and practices to learn more about this ancient practice, to help “open your channel”, connect with guides from other worlds & realms, and to connect with the wisdom of Spirit directly (or God / Goddess, choose your term).

If you feel a strong connection to the Pleiadians or Pleiades Star Cluster, OR the Arcturians or Arcturus star system, your soul may spend a lot of time incarnated on the Pleiades or Arcturus, or your soul may be working closely with these beings. Many Arcturian souls, Pleiadian souls, or souls with strong connections to these beings often experience heightened channeling abilities, although this is not the case for all Pleiadian and Arcturian souls. Your channeling abilities may be amplified, however it is not necessary to hold these connections or connect with these higher dimensional beings in order to channel, although it may make it easier to channel if you have already been cultivating a connection over the years.

There are dozens of Starseed lineages and groups of otherworldly beings one can connect with and channel, both positive and negative in essence… The Arcturians are one lineage, but there are also the Pleiadians, Sirians, Lyrans and the Andromedan collective to name a few common ones.

It may benefit you to look into Hella Weston - she channels the Arcturians and does amazing work with her partner, Lukis Mac, in their shared company Owaken Breathwork. They have a YouTube channel and they are on instagram (@hella_weston & @lukismac), but I’m going to share some interviews Hella has done where she talks about channeling and connecting with her Arcturian guides.

Eluña worked with the Arcturians a lot during the Spring and Summer of 2024, so definitely check out her videos if you’d like to go deeper. But I do suggest only watching one at a time, maybe one a week - space it out if you can, they are powerful - but always trust your intuition and watch as guided. There are a lot of videos, interviews and documentaries out there about Daryl Anka’s story on connecting with Bashar and opening his channel. The documentary “First Contact” is amazing, informative and life changing, especially if you are just dipping your toes in channeling.

The last channeler I want to feature is someone very near and dear to my heart, who is one of the very first psychics, channels and spiritual guides I ever connected with on my spiritual awakening journey. I first found Siobhan on her YouTube channel “ToKittyAndBeyond” back in early 2019 via the “Higher Self” YouTube channel that was reposting her readings. I have followed her ever since, and have deeply revered and seriously appreciated her work. Back in 2020, she even introduced me to the Soul Realignment Akashic Records healing modality that I am certified in!

She has since started 2 new YouTube channels - “It’s Tarot And Beyond” and “The Divine Channel”. Channelers mainly use their gifts to bring new ideas and perspectives to the Earth plane in order to help humanity expand their consciousness. People who are gifted in channeling are very good at helping others change at the level of thought and mind by introducing new ideas and ways of seeing things that help them elevate and see life in a new light. Channelers often have an innate sense of ‘knowing’ of how to help others and be of service in a personalized way through whatever is occurring in the moment. This is how their psychic abilities often activate - when they are being of service or are open to serving others with love and truth. This is also how one’s gifts unfold if they mainly operate in the 5th Energy Center… it is through these senses of knowing, random useful downloads of information, dedicated study & implementation of wisdom, and using their words to be a channel for guiding others that 5th Energy Center souls are most of service.

If you resonate with this, your soul may operate dominantly within the 5th Energy Center… things like posting on social media, sending a text or sharing your thoughts online are common ways 5th Energy Center souls are being of utmost service… sometimes you may feel a nudge to post something, like you have to share a message online or in some way in that moment, and this is because this is one of the main ways you are of greater service to humanity. This is also why it is KEY to connect with your individuality at this time - because there is no “one size fits all” path to success in this new world we are stepping into. Posting on social media may feel like a waste of energy to most people, but for a 5th Energy Center soul or a natural channel, this is the way they can be of service to humanity and create success from a soul-level perspective.

And just to reiterate, the 8 energy centers describe the 8 different qualities of energy that each soul embodies to varying degrees. Each energy center, or quality of energy, reveals different archetypes, areas of expertise, passions, strengths and unique gifts that a soul embodies in the physical human experience. We all express the 8 energy centers to varying degrees, but we will closely identify with 1 or 2 primary energy centers that reveal the innate qualities of energy we are naturally designed to express.

Most of our gifts unfold on a moment by moment basis, and will change depending on what the moment is asking of us. When we are in the right head space, positively in tune with the environment around us, and open to receiving, we can experience this channeling gift, even if it is not inherent within our soul profile.

If you want to start opening yourself to receive more of this cosmic information, you can start by being more intentional with your focus and what you give your attention to, and start to shift your awareness to open into the unknown — meaning, instead of searching for particular information or requesting specific answers outside of you, intend to be a vessel for receiving information of light, love and positive influence. Intend to receive the answers you are looking for through a gut feeling, sense or knowing or new idea within your mind. Instead of demanding specific answers or seeking outside, just be open to whatever wants to flow through you with love, and be patient in the process.

It also helps if your environment and physical vessel feel safe and comfortable to open into these new realms of experience… if you feel anxious, uncertain, uneasy or ungrounded, the nature of the information coming to you will reflect this uncertainty vibration, and you may invite in energies you do not actually want to interact with. Your intention and state of being will always be reflected back to you in the nature of the information received. The more you can fine tune your vibration, the more you can receive clear and concise information.

Channeling and prophecy in the distant past

I must mention here, that much of the prophecies, meetings with angels and otherworldly contact throughout our past, primarily detailed within religious texts, are also examples of channeling in action.

Just as we are able to connect with otherworldly beings like the Pleiadians, Arcturians and Sirians in channeling, we can also connect with “Angels”, “Aliens” and “God” to receive guidance, insight and higher levels of wisdom to empower us in our human experience. Much of the prophets of past civilizations were in fact channels receiving transmissions of information from beyond the veil, from higher realms or other worlds. This reveals there are thousands of instances of this ancient art form happening throughout our ancient and recent past, and that this seemingly “new” concept or practice is really not that new at all. This is also why many channeled bodies of work like the Bible and other religious texts can be quite activating and valuable at times, because many of them have channeled transmissions laced within their pages and parables.

The more we wake up to and activate the higher faculties of our human capabilities, the more we will start to realize that these gifts have always been around - within us and outside of us - we just lost touch with these things, forgetting them for centuries and keeping them hidden behind closed doors out of fear of persecution or even death.

The truth is often stranger than fiction… and now more than ever, we will see this reflected in our realities more and more.
